Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect no personal data, and we never receive your recordings, transcripts or notes. This page mostly explains why there is nothing to explain.
Quiet Pilot transcribes and shapes your notes on this iPhone. Nothing you record is sent to us or to a cloud AI. The app goes online only to download its AI models from Hugging Face and for App Store purchases. Your notes are included in your own iPhone backups, and anything you copy or share goes where you send it.

What we collect
No personal data. Quiet Pilot has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting service, and no server of ours that the app talks to. We collect no personal data, and we never receive your recordings, transcripts or notes — we cannot see your prompts or how you use the app. The app's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected," and its embedded privacy manifest declares no collected data types — both are audited claims, not marketing.
What happens on your device
- Audio is captured only while you are recording, with your explicit microphone permission, and is transcribed on the device by the Whisper speech-recognition model running locally.
- Transcripts and notes are stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone. They are included in your device backups under the iOS backup settings you control (iCloud or local), like any other app's data.
- AI processing — turning your words into an AI note — is performed by a language model that runs entirely on the iPhone's own processor. Your text is never sent to us or to a cloud AI service.
- Deleted notes move to Recently Deleted for 30 days, then are removed. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored.
The only network connections the app makes
Quiet Pilot goes online only for these things:
- Downloading its AI models — the speech-recognition model, and the Pro model (Qwen 3 4B) when you unlock it, or automatically on iPhones that cannot run Apple Intelligence, where it is the engine — from Hugging Face's public model hosting (huggingface.co). A download is an ordinary file transfer: it sends no audio, no transcripts, and no content of yours. Like any web request, the file host receives your IP address in order to deliver the file.
- App Store purchases and restores — buying the unlock or restoring it on a new device is handled by Apple through StoreKit, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Siri and Shortcuts — if you start a recording by voice or from a shortcut, your spoken command is handled by Apple, as described below.
That's the whole list. Nothing you record is sent to us or to a cloud AI. Once the models are downloaded, the app records, transcribes, and shapes AI notes with no network at all — airplane mode is fine after setup.
Two more things move your notes only when you choose: your notes are included in your own iPhone backups (iCloud or local, under your iOS backup settings), and anything you copy or share goes where you send it — to the pasteboard, the share sheet, or another app.
Siri, Shortcuts, and widgets
If you start a recording through Siri or Shortcuts, your spoken command ("start a recording") is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. The recording itself is then captured and processed on-device by Quiet Pilot as described above.
Purchases
Quiet Pilot is free to download. The optional one-time unlock is purchased through Apple's App Store; Apple processes the payment and we never see your payment details. We receive only the anonymous, aggregated sales reporting Apple provides to all developers. There is no account — your purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not to any profile we hold.
Children
Quiet Pilot is rated 4+ and collects no personal data from anyone, children included. We never receive your recordings, transcripts or notes.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app ever changes what is described here — for example, by adding an optional online feature — we will update this page, note the change in the App Store release notes, and update the App Store privacy label before shipping it. The effective date above always reflects the current policy.
